UPS and reboot

(1/2) > >>

Tripple_Delta:
I can't get over this.

OPNSense box is connected to a UPS.  NUT is properly configured and will shut down the box when needed.
When the power is back on, the box doesn’t restarted.
In the BIOS it is set that in the event of a power failure it should restart automatically.  But since the box was properly shut down, it does not start up again. Which in normal behavior.

Where am I wrong?

franco:
I think nut plugin uses the wrong shutdown command, calling the script that powers down the whole appliance.

PRs welcome I guess. It's a community plugin after all.

Cheers,
Franco

muchacha_grande:
In the BIOS it should be set "Always Power On", so when the line power is back, the UPS powers on and the the OPNSense box starts even if it was properly shut down.

Tripple_Delta:
I only have 3 options.
Power stays off, power back on after failure or same as previous state.

I don't use NUT, but if you shutdown, how should the hardware recognize that power is back? Except if the battery is run down to zero, then the hardware should boot when power resumes (BIOS set to "always on" or alike).

You would need something like wake-on-LAN to power up the hardware after power resumes.
