APU home router with wifi

(1/1)

benjyamon:
Super excited about this project and have built a new APU http://www.pcengines.ch/apu1d4.htm router to run OPNsense, and replace our (cr)Apple timecapsule router (where one can't see inside!)

Now when people have "Internet" problems, I'll be able to see exactly what's going on!

I did have to put a switch between the Realtek NIC (WAN interface) and my ISP's wireless dish on the roof https://www.monkeybrains.net/ or else it wouldn't sense the carrier and negiotiate to 100baseTX full-duplex. (This unfortunate hardware bug: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/3870 caused my WAN nic to downgraded to half-duplex when MonkeyBrains forced the port to 100baseTX full-duplex and I configured OPNsense accordingly, but back on auto (both ends) I still don't know why this APU board wouldn't detect the connection, ifconfig reporting "no carrier" -- which interestingly a MacBook Pro running Yosemite also fails todo. . . not sure what's the root cause(s) there, hence my stick a switch in and be done!)
