Dear Friends,

What is file time to new packages and support for version 18.7 ?

Thanks

There won't be any more updates to 18.7.
19.1.x is the current release, so please use that.

Weust is correct.

The problem is that FreeBSD quickly discontinues their 11.x releases and upgrades too many things so that ports will break as soon as the old version is discontinued. It's a time sink we're not willing to invest in any longer than necessary:

EoL of 11.1 was 3 months after 11.2 which left us "stranded" for 3 months until 19.1 came out... We believe 2 major updates a year is quick and reliable and relatively easy to carry out as few things change minus the problems that operating system upgrades and new features can bring.

If the support policy of FreeBSD was different it could be nicer: less changes in 11.x, longer EoL (maybe up to the release of 13.x). But that's just our wish for a more predictable and user friendly future.

Cheers,
Franco
