10 GBit NIC
« on: January 30, 2020, 11:36:25 pm »
Hi there
I'm planning a new rig on which I'd like to run OPNsense 24/7 in a VM. I plan to use unRAID as a hypervisor, which allows to pass-through PCI devices. So I'll probably pass through the NIC directly to OPNsense. Now my question is which network card I should install on the WAN side, where I have a 10 GBit/s connection (RJ45, Cat6). Internally I will use vNICs to the other VMs and 1 GBit NICs I already own.

A single 10 GBit port is enough.
Thank you very much for your recommendations!

Why not ESXi from VmWare??

Much better performance and drivers.
