Syslog how force host name [SOLVED]
« on: January 02, 2019, 10:56:46 am »
Hello folk,
I'm using Opnsense 17.7.12 to send syslog records to a remote rsyslog server.
On the remote rsyslog server I installed Adiscon LogAnalyzer 4.1.6 and all works fine but the field "Host" shows "host33-14-static.85-94-b.business.telecomitalia.it" instead of the hostname of the remote Opnsense device.
Is there a way to force the remote Opnsense device to send its own hostname instead of "host33-14-static.85-94-b.business.telecomitalia.it"?
Thanks so much for your gracefull help.
Best regards.
Dario

Hi Dario,

This feature is missing from FreeBSD syslogd. We want to add syslog-ng for remote logging which can handle this properly, but it's been postponed due to other priorities. I cannot give an ETA on this as it depends on user interaction and support.

Cheers,
Franco
