hi all,

im moving from Zen to sky BB

is anyone on sky here and have they setup there opnsense with it?

ive seen this guide

https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/SkyUK.html

anything else i need to know

thanks,
rob

Hi Rob, I set one up a few weeks ago and it turned out to be much simpler than outlined in that link.

Bog standard DHCP did the trick, without any options (61 or otherwise).

Bart...

so its just as simple as selecting in the drop down DHCP and thats it?

Yes it was for me. The option 61 stuff works as well but it is not necessary.

Note that I had no use for IPv6 or port forwarding (everybody connects over Tailscale).

thanks bart, i will let you know when i get sky BB, i have heard there customer support is rubbish tho as they refuse to help you with third party routers

ok im trying to get my sky BB VDSL username and password by following this guide

https://www.georgebuckingham.com/articles/sky-fibre-router-vdsl-password/

ive found my option 61 client identifier but when i right click i dont get copy > as printable text i get

any help please

Not sure about the Sky stuff, but if you're trying to get the text from that packet, try "as ASCII text" (or maybe UTF-8, but I wouldn't imagine that would be needed)

Hi rob,

I got connected with option 61 as well but it didn't make any difference what username and password I put in, e.g. itisme@pasword123. You maybe missing the complexity threshold. Try the WiFi password from the underside of your Sky router?

I'm sorry the plain DHCP option didn't work for you. Perhaps Sky has regional authentication servers with different policies? BTW, I'm using Aquiss and have done since VDSL days. They provide outstanding support and won't try to sell you TV channels ;-)

Bart...
