Greetings!

I have the following question:
why is the update catalogue downloaded twice, when updating ?

Update process:

fetching update catalogue -> update info is displayed and then the update catalogue is downloaded again and the the files.

Ja, klar, genau wie O2 alles verkauft, was nicht bei drei auf dem Baum ist. VLAN 7 spricht aber für Telekom-Zugang.

1und1 resellt alles, was irgendwo rumliegt. :) Hier wurde z.B. von Deutsche Glasfaser verlegt und 1und1 vermarktet das. AFAICS hat die DG das exakt selbe oder zumindest extrem ähnliche System wie Lünecom, was hier diskutiert wurde. Ich habe zumindest beim Reinschauen dasselbe gesehen, inklusive der Freischaltung über einen Server im 10./8 Netz usw. . Also könnte es schon sowas sein, allerdings müßte dann auch die Fritze erst freigeschaltet werden gemußt haben.

Ok not sure what to do here, but I'll see if there is an upstream patch. Rolling back the version is iffy.

I guess that's about https://github.com/opnsense/ports/commit/ffa95e659d223da -- we had 2.8.3 in our tree before which would still work?

Normalerweise ist 1&1 ja Reseller von der Telekom. Eigentlich habe ich noch nichts davon gehört, dass die MAC-Locking betreiben, aber wenn die Fritzbox funktioniert und die OpnSense nicht, könnte man:

a. versuchen, die MAC der Fritzbox zu klonen
b. eine Zeit warten, um die neue MAC zu akzeptieren (es gibt ISPs, die einen Wechsel erst nach 1-2h mitbekommen)
c. beim Support anrufen, um nachzufragen, ob die neue MAC freigeschaltet werden muss

No, this would have to apply to a different zone.

I'm not sure if you're on the community or business edition, but 26.1.8 just dropped with some Captive Portal improvements. Your issue specifically doesn't ring a bell, but best to stay on the latest version before chasing ghosts.

Be sure to restart the portal or manually reboot after the upgrade as mentioned in the release notes.
