Quote from: viragomann on April 22, 2026, 11:34:32 PMI guess, "Mail Server SSL Connection" doesn't do STARTTLS, it rather just let Monit connect via SSL (usually port 465).
So maybe Monit connects successfully if you remove this check.

Or you can try port 465. Don't know, if Office 365 supports this.

i have tried that it did not work! im not sure if Monit is design to support such connection, although gmail adopt the same yet it can be connected that what i have seen in youtube!

Thank you for providing such useful information about obtaining the relevant kernel source tag for CI/GitHub Actions automation. Your precise approach made it much clearer how to handle this frequently complicated process. I appreciate the practical examples you offered, which are quite helpful.

I have an older version of Device Monitor installed and working.  It is great !!!

I am happy with it, but is there a way to update to this new version, or do I need to fully uninstall/reinstall?

Thank you.

General Discussion / Hello from a new user — first ...
Last post by isaacward - Today at 04:04:54 AM
Hi everyone,

I recently installed OPNsense on a small home-lab box (an older Intel mini-PC I had sitting around) and wanted to say hello. The setup went surprisingly smoothly — the installer is a lot friendlier than I expected, and the web UI feels very polished.

A few things I'm enjoying so far:
- Clear dashboard with real-time traffic graphs right after install
- Very readable firewall rule editor (the aliases system is great for grouping IPs/ports)
- Plugins from the web UI — I'm experimenting with the Zenarmor plugin for category-based filtering

Couple of small questions for more experienced users:
1. Is there a recommended backup strategy besides the built-in "Config > Backups" page? I'd like to push configs off-box periodically.
2. For a home network with ~25 devices, does it make sense to run Suricata in IDS mode right away, or is it better to wait until I have baseline traffic stats?

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to learning from the community!

26.1, 26,4 Series / Re: Thin disk / ZFS / Unmap?
Last post by ThyOnlySandman - Today at 03:11:57 AM
Quote from: nero355 on Today at 12:36:39 AMTo be honest I think it will never be compatible in the future because ZFS "formats the storage and writes data at the same time" so to speak when new data is written.

Well it was learning experience.  The only other environment I've ever played with VMware and ZFS inside is VM is my nested 4 node Proxmox cluster for learning Proxmox.  (And ZFS).  But that lab cluster is using a dedicated non redundant SSD and the many virtual disks were all setup as thick.  So this was first time seeing ZFS + thin.  Just threw me off as I initially saw the manual ZFS unmap / trim work really well.  But didn't give test VM time to run to see VMDK balloon.

All is well - I'm back to a fresh UFS VM.
Cheers
