For drill, the order of arguments is important. Try drill -p 53 fr.app.lgwebostv.com @127.0.0.1From man - drill [ OPTIONS ] name [ @server ] [ type ] [ class ]

I am a novice at setting up a firewall and networking in general, so I am struggling with vocabulary and concepts to communicate about this subject.

Are you by any chance still running from the ISO? If no, since you connected using HTTP first, make sure that the browser connects using HTTPS to the OPNsense. And try from another browser and/or from a privacy windows.

Can you check from the console (have you enabled SSH access or accessing the physical console?) the webserver logs (/var/log/lighttpd/latest.log) for entries related to your login?

And by simple I assume you mean a password without any umlauts, other non-english or non-ASCII characters?

Given you commented on the date and time, are you using the TOTP feature?

Quote from: manki_09 on January 11, 2026, 11:01:56 PMI currently have shaping turned off. I tried shaping as a troubleshooting step to limit the speed to 1gb but nothing changed.

The intel x550 NICs will not auto negotiate to 2.5gbps. Which is programmed into the firmware. Manual selection is required. This is why I have a 2.5gb usb nic order so I can test if the NIC is at fault.
I see. You mean like this comment which I found on the Intel site here?
Quote from: Intel engineerThe autonegotiation for 2.5 and 5Gb speeds for the X550 was changed in 2020.

Default autonegotiation excludes the 2.5 and 5Gb speeds.

If 2.5 or 5Gb is chosen in the dropdown, it will change autonegotiation to only advertise that speed. So it is not forcing to 2.5Gb or 5Gb when those options are chosen, it changes the advertised speed.

That may be an issue if the switch is configured as forced to 2.5Gb instead of autonegotiate.

If that still does not help, please make sure the ethernet updated to the latest NVM and drivers.

This comment and the prior discussion on the Intel site imply to me that the problem may lie with NIC configuration rather than with Opnsense config. Your proposed test may be informative ("may" because I lack complete confidence in USB-Ethernet adapters even though I sometimes use them in testing).

General Discussion / Wrong username or password
Last post by Conte1605 - Today at 12:10:39 AM
Good evening everyone.
And sorry in advance for my bad English.
Yesterday I set up my Opnsense for the first time on my PC with a dual internet interface. I simply logged in to the GUI, changed the root password, and enabled https for the GUI. The problem is that since yesterday, whenever I don't connect to the GUI for a few hours, and I try to log in again from either the GUI or the console, I always get this error: "Wrong username or password," or I have to reset the password from the console every time. I should point out that the date and time are correct, and that I'm not entering the password incorrectly, because I've also tried simple passwords, but I still have the same problem after a short time. I'm wondering if there's a permanent solution to this problem because I can't log in to the console every time to reset the password. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

No worries :)

I think one of the developers needs to take a look at this, because if the things you have tested so far are _always_ the case then it's definitely related to DNSmasqd used by OPNsense sadly...

Quote from: bamf on January 11, 2026, 09:34:13 PMYou should not use any domains starting with local as DNS name in your network. Use home.arpa instead which is reserved for exactly that purpose.
We had a nice discussion about that not too long ago in this topic : https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=50301.msg256202#msg256202

Worth the read IMHO :)
