Zenarmor (Sensei) / 10G capable CPU / system anyone?

Hi,

ATM, I am using OPNsense in a Proxmox KVM on a Supermicro X11SSL-F with an old Core i3 7100. In combination with a PCI-passthrough'ed ixl Intel X710-DA2 10G adapter (ixl was kindly recommended by Sunnyvalley, thanks again guys!) gives me nice download speeds around 2.5G, but maxes out the CPU.
I'm looking to replace that old system at some point in the future, with a recent X12 Supermicro (-F) board and a CPU, both not yet determined. Single core high performance still is the key it seems, so any super duper and expensive Xeon is probably not the right choice today.
Is anybody already using a 10G capable Sensei install and can share details?

Are you using a custom policy to filter, or the default one? In case of a custom policy, it might be necessary to add the wg0 interface there.

HELP...
After my update to the latest version from 21.1.9 to 21.7, nothing happens. It rebooted after the update, then it was quiet. Connected it to mouse, keyboard and screen. Not even a bios on the display.
Connected it back in the network and tried to access it by ssh on the WAN and LAN ports. Ssh is enabled and worked previously. Unfortunally it doesn't allow me access.
Is there another way to access it by SSH?

Sounds like a hardware problem if you don’t even see the BIOS screen or boot messages.

Just updated fine, newer kernel is on the default repo.
No more hangs, great work, guys!

Just updated fine using the default repo. Not using VLANs but Sensei is also not affected by the igb anymore problem it seems.
No more hangs on my Proxmox KVM with pass-through igb interface.

OK, just tried to switch on native netmap mode while in bypass. That seems to disable bypass and also kills OPNsense.

Hi,

no, I would have to set it to bypass mode and afterwards switch from passive mode to a netmap mode.
Switching to a netmap mode with the igb interface active instantly kills the OPNsense, no way to get to bypass mode then. I can only restore from a snapshot to get it working again.
Should I try switchting to a netmap mode with bypass mode on, would that help you debugging the problem?

Not sure if it is related, but with Sensei it seems to be a problem using igb with netmap:

As soon as I use igb with netmap (emulated or native), my OPNsense becomes unresponsive.

Hi,
I have tried various updates on my Proxmox hosted OPNsense KVM and all have failed when using my mapped igb0 interface. As soon as Sensei is started in non-passive mode, either emulated or native netmap, my Proxmox host's load goes up to 150 and OPNsense is no responsive anymore.
Using the VTNET interface only, no problem. Adding the igb0 interface, OPNsense is no longer responsive.
