Virtual private networks / Re: DNS Leak NordVPN + WAN
« on: October 11, 2024, 09:53:49 pm »
I think i have the same issue. I did a search and i THINK what I see is that this is due to some code in MacOS. As a result, OpnSense (or Nord) said - "we would have to wait" but this is due to apple code.....Sigh. The only way I know to deal with this is to go into the "kill switch section" in NordVPN and DISABLE 'Stay invisible on a local network'. I don't like this option...but i'm am doing further research. Hope this helps...please post if you or anyone finds something different. I may try to switch to ExpressVPN and see if i get the same issue.

General Discussion / suggestions - i cannot log into my device (through console or otherwise)
« on: September 13, 2021, 03:31:12 pm »
Hello all -

I'm new to this forum. I did a quick look and don't think i see a similar post, hopefully this is not a duplicate.

I'm messing around with a 2port protectli with opnsense on it. Heres the question and some data:

ASK: How can I log in to the device - previous attempts have failed

Facts:
* I have disabled the root admin
* I am using my own admin account (we'll call it "temp"); and have been using it successfully to access the web gui for more than one week
* My temp/admin password is 100 characters long - great when i have access to a password vault; not so good here
* everything was working fine for the last week
* WHAT CHANGED? i went to configure the wifi i have on the device
* What do i think i did wrong? I think i set up an overlapping ip range
** WHATS strange - i can still access the wifi ssid AND connect to the internet through this protectli device, even though I cannot access opnsense on the protectli through either console or webgui access
* SSH is NOT enabled on this device - sigh

Whats been done so far:
1. after various youtubes and other research, through the console, i watched the system reboot, chose option 2 (single user load); went through a couple directory structures and reset my admin password. UNFORTUNATELY this did not work. I did reset the password but i'm wondering, since my root account is disabled, it makes this option innaccessable (sp). I tried using my "new" password with both the root account and my temp account

2. i manually
* Manually configure my device for an ip on my protectli and connect to web console; my laptop was connected to the LAN port on the protectli...no joy

I'm at a loss. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd really like to be able to a access the device and disable the opt (aka wifi interfact) to salvage the situation but i'm at a loss

Worst case, i think i'll need to re-install opnsense from a bootable USB...but i'm hoping not....

Thanks for any suggestions / comments you all might have.
