19.7 Legacy Series / Scheduled Cron Jobs

Is there a way to send an email out when a Cron job runs? I do not see anything in the job itself.

I thought firewall logging was on the logging page in settings, not logging/targets.  There you can disable all sorts of options related to the firewall...assuming that's what you're looking for.  I guess it might help to state what exactly you don't want to see (or do want to see).

If that is the case how do I filter out informational?

If you go to the Logging/Target section you are able to filter out msgs you do not want to see, like informational.

So here is what I am trying to accomplish. I would like to send logs to a remote log server. I would like to focus on all msgs other than informational. I would like to focus on firewall and Suricata messages. If I use the Logging section and pump them to the remote server I get everything. Should I then use Logging/Targets to filter for what I want?

OK so then what would be the correct one to select for the firewall.

Ahhh I see it now...for standard firewall msgs would I pick dpinger?

Is there a way to configure logging so only non-informational logs entries get sent to a remote log server? I do not see anything that allows me to do this.

General Discussion / Elastic Beats on OPNsense
« on: October 21, 2019, 05:07:00 pm »
I am curious if others are running Beats on their OPNsense deployments? I have 6.7.1 installed, as that is the most up to date pkg available, but curious if anyone has manually updated their install to more current versions, and if yes how do you do this on OPNsense? I seem to be having issues trying to do this manually and wanted to ask the group.

That is certainly too bad. I am trying to figure out how to keep Beats up to date on OPNsense. A bit of a pain.

Yes it is 6.7.1 but needs to be installed manually. Will it ever get added as a plug-in or will it always be manual?

It looks like Suricata 5 is now a stable release. Is there a timetable for including it in OPNsense? Version 20 perhaps? Is there also a way to get other options added to the plugins, like Elastic Beats?

Yes...the instructions came up as the UI finished the update. I followed those instructions.

Ok no worries...but I did follow the directions when the 19.7.5 update was applied and it says to disable syslogd in RC.conf and enable syslog-ng.
