Unifi version 5.14.23

just follow the installation instruction

for upgrades, you must stop Unifi first before reinstalling
settings will not be affected by re installation of updated version

This is for those who would like Unifi Controller on their Opnsense machine. We understand the risk, we appreciate your concern.

20.7 Legacy Series / Re: Routing with Captive Portal and MultiWAN gateway
« on: August 24, 2020, 09:00:51 am »

seems to be an issue with a VLAN adapter?

on a real LAN adapter setting a device to multiWAN gateway does not seem to have any issue

but on a VLAN adapater can seem to connect properly with internet without numerous retries

probably just verify and [uncheck] Allow DNS server list to be overridden by DHCP/PPP on WAN
if that helps

is it not working?

it means you need to install it in your VM first

after reboot, type "installer" in the login
follow the instruction.

better yet remove the cd or usb drive to ensure that you have installed it in your VM and has booted the vm hdd rather that the ISO or usb drive

Tutorials and FAQs / Re: Gateway Groups - Load Balancing - Sticky connections per IP or sessions?
« on: August 13, 2020, 11:40:29 am »
are you using 20.7?

I have a different issue but sounds similar... mine is captive portal and multiwan gateway group...
it would seem that for some moment, when the OS switches from between the 2 WANs, a routing issue will occur.

yes it is possible, check "forwarder" in ubound general settings
DNS Query Forwarding    [check] Enable Forwarding Mode

in system->settings->general
DNS server options   [uncheck] Allow DNS server list to be overridden by DHCP/PPP on WAN

in DNS servers (same page)
for each WAN you have, select different DNS servers

I have 2 WAN and 2 LAN (local and freewifi)

i'm having issue in may freewifi lan that is set to multiwan gateway and captive portal on
it is as if server 10.10.1.0 is not exisitng, cant be ping or access via freewifi lan
weird part is that freewifi clients cant received their IP via DHCP, just to access to internet.
but one I set the gateway back to "default" routing will be restored.. I can then set again to multiwan after a few minutes. and it will work again until it fails...
noticeable is usually after reboot... I will have this problem.

is something missing in my settings or this is a routing bug of sort if multiwan group is used?
it seems also if conecction changes at times from wan 1 to 2 there is sometimes a "lag" or dns error, users then must kepp refreshing the page

if more info is needed, I will try to provide

have you already added in the overrides section in ubound?
and it still does not resolve?

What if you resolve google.com. ?
The trailing dot is maybe necessary.
ok that did work in my case. was not doing it before, thank you

@jeremygaither
do you have an actual domain? we could test and replicate?
or is this your own private domain/ip?
was this manually added to ubound?
