22.1 Legacy Series / Re: os-ddclient
June 08, 2022, 09:13:32 PM
Thanks for your tip - I added the verbose entry and I can see another entry after 5 minutes so it appears to be working.

I do have one problem though - every time I reboot the machine the ddclient.conf reverts to the default file - why is it not saving the info after reboot?

thanks

I am using no ip on a test machine. Whilst my script file seems to work for the initial contact with no ip I dont see any further entries in the log file for when it polls for updates/checks?

How can I see if its polling every 5 minutes or how do you make it update every 5 minutes?

thanks :-\

Hi Till

I have the exact same problem as you which has been going on for some time.
My setup is with zen, ppoe (fttp connection).
If the wan interface goes down or I simulate a wan failure (e.g pull the lead) when the connection is restored opnsense does not pick up the ipv6 again. I usually reboot the box to resolve it.

Seems very odd opnsense won't pick up the address.

Same here. Seen it across 3 different units all qotom based. Have swapped out hardware and done ram tests but makes no difference. I submitted the logs too.

I have regularly seen the same fatal trap error across 3 units.  All qotoms. I have been submitting the crash log in hope it get looked at. Seems to be a recent thing as never had an issue before. Mine seem to get it upon reboot after the applying of updates

20.7 Legacy Series / Fatal trap errors

I have had a few crashes lately after applying the last couple of updates. Some of them have been fatal trap:12 page fault in kernel mode....Is this related to hardware at all? Msata drive in use at the mo.

I always submit the error reports but yet to hear anything back.
Thanks

All good and all sorted. Audit clear and bsd versions match.

Many thanks for your help.

Ok. I just did freebsd-version from shell and compared the 2 results. The unit that has the issue shows the same version info in the gui but the free bsd version differ between the 2 from shell. I haven't run anything yet so if you want any other info let me know what you need.

Thanks.

Hi Franco.

Thanks for the response. Can I check all settings are preserved from my current config. Its a remote unit and given our lockdown I just need to check I won't lose access to it.

Also I  notice the freed bsd version is not the same as my other unit with the update. Is this a problem?
Cheers

20.7 Legacy Series / update error - advice please
January 23, 2021, 02:13:56 PM
Hi,

I have a couple or opnsense qotom units and encountered a problem applying the latest update to one of them remotely. The process appeared to hang during the last couple of bits. I was applying the update through the console.

I did reboot the unit afterwards but on running a health audit I am getting the following. Is there anyway to roll the whole patch back or fix the problem without having to rebuild etc?  If I run another update the console reports no updates required.

any help appreciated, thanks

Hi,

Been using opnsense for a little while and wondered if there is any way I can apply updates to my spare units which are for backup in case my main router goes down..

Is it possible somehow to apply updates as and when to these secondary box's across my main network without having to just re-install opnsense on these units from scratch to apply the latest updates?
appreciate this might not be possible but any ideas appreciated.

cheers
