Yes. It could be that old dialog is more prone to automatic migration issues to swanctl.conf format having been carried out. The new dialog follows swanctl.conf syntax more closely so such hiccups are less likely to occur.
Nevertheless, old one will be fixed as it's clearly a regression.
The trouble here is that we can't forever cache the IP, but still want to wait out if the IP actually cycles or how long the disconnect happened. I understand the implications, but from experience the old code also had its pitfalls with forever-caching the previous IP.
Not sure how to proceed. I don't see a possible solution here too within this thread. Complaining is easy.

Why is your OPNsense involved in LAN to LAN traffic? Do you use a LAN bridge instead of a switch? You should definitely get a dedicated switch, then.
