Hardware and Performance / Re: Any recommendation for Access point.
« on: July 30, 2023, 05:03:59 pm »
The thing is that OpenWRT/DDWRT/Tomato are not being monitored externally. The user has full control of what's happening. I do agree that the consumer products are designed to die soon, specially they newer ones so that the consumer could buy new ones. This train of thought has been around for quite sometime which is sad.

I care less for the 2.5 and all the odd numbers... I'd like to see the real network numbers. 1, 10, 100 and nothing else.
Decisio should make all the NIC's 10G with two 100G ports. :)

you have no issues sending the pings to 192.168.1.0/24... I think that subnet does not know how to get back. :D

23.1 Legacy Series / Re: Netork aliases /32 seems not working
« on: July 28, 2023, 02:45:57 am »
knowing /32 is not a network, then yeah... smallest network is /31. Some nodes such as Cisco routers can do /30 between two devices.

it should be a host alias and not a network.

yeah or if you have a card that's supported by OpenWRT you can follow the below guide to set it up.

But if you want to do this as an alternative, I recommend putting the unifi on an UPS.

If you are gonna look at Aruba, (meh) I recommend Eero Pro

https://eero.com/shop/eero-pro-6e

it covers around 6000sqft with just one.
