That way you will make double NAT... There is an option to use OPNsense with Sensei as transparent L2 filter, but you will need at least 3 ports, 2 of the NICs must be bridge devices having the same kernel device (e.g. all em, igb etc.) and same number of RX/TX queues. Why you just not consider replacing ER-6P with OPNsense?

Zenarmor (Sensei) / Reinstall Sensei after Elasticsearch crash

I guess many of us have Elasticsearch stalled after update Sensei.
At least I had it on some of routers, managed by me. Reset reporting or reinstall Sensei not helping.
It is a pain in the @ss if we have to reinstall the entire OPNsense.
I found a simple solution in other place and want to share it, so we have it in the forums here:

1. Backup Sensei configuration, white and black lists first.
2. Connect to the router via SSH or local console and press 8 for Shell.
3. Run this in the console:

pkg remove elasticsearch5

cd /usr/local/etc

rm -rf elasticsearch
4. When you click on some Sensei subnemu, it will demand install, but this time will work
5. Restore you white and blacklists.
6. Buy me a beer

If there a simpler way post it here.

And doesn't cost like latest 1L Lenovo with riser and 4 port gig Intel...

Grab an brand SFF PC with Intel Core-ish Pentium G, 4 RAM, 250 HDD and you are good to go. If you demand AES-NI for better VPN speeds you will need at least i5-2400, but these are close to 100 EUR. May be low-profile Intel/Broadcom NIC will be needed also.

Just an idea: make second NAT with cheap router for the IoT network. Use port forwarding if needed.

How i can test the OPNsense in my localnetwork.

Very fundamental question. My suggestion is to passthrough dual or quad port Intel NIC to the VM, assign the desired ports as WAN and LAN, put your ISP in the WAN and your home network in the LAN port via switch. Then test whatever you want...

I think you should give a try to the Sensei addon. You can set "Moderate Control" in the default policy and add desired websites to "Auto Whitelist Hosts". This is one of the many things Sensei can filter and monitor. Look at the "App Controls" to filter specific services or apps. I've blocked M$ updates and telemetry in my home network, so no sudden lags and restart on my computers anymore.

6.0.45 Official from https://github.com/gnkidwell/unifi-pfsense works like a charm
The hard part was to install Sensei with Elastic. Otherwise both stops working and entire router goes sideways...

You don't need 2 OPNsense boxes for that Just set 2 VPN servers in one OPNsense box on different ports that leads to different internal networks.
