I am experiencing the same issue, and my configuration is very similar.
only when a visit a website that uses http, like msftncsi.com am i redirected to the captive portal page. Every other page returns a "this site can't be reached" error.

Any guidance on how I can overcome this would be appreciated.

Hi All, i'm now transitioning to OpnSense from pfSense. I have set up a box and everything works great except for Captive Portal. I am using vouchers with my setup.
My problem is that the captive portal page doesn't appear when I try to access the internet, i just get a "page cannot be displayed" error. If i were to go to the captive portal page manually (192.168.125.1:8000) I can login and from there i can access the internet just fine.
Can someone point me in the right direction to have this done automatically?
