Don't know about VirtualBox, but I just booted from an img file on an Unbuntu 20 KVM-based VM by adding a storage device via USBdisk and the img file as a raw device.  Worked fine.

I don't speak German, and only used Google translate to read this thread.  So pardon me if this doesn't translate back into German very well.

Has anyone tried using a quad port card with the igb driver and passing through only SOME of the ports?

As in, just passing two into the VM for opnsense, and passing the others into other VMs?

I've had a KVM machine running successfully passing all four ports (as separate PCI devices).  But I'm curious about the possibility of splitting up the ports to allow running another VM on the same host.
