Hardware and Performance / OPNSense on Netgate SG-8860
« on: October 25, 2019, 05:17:33 pm »
Has anyone installed OPNSense on a Netgate SG-8860?  If so, do you have any instructions on how to install it?

TIA!

General Discussion / Systemwide DNS Change
« on: February 01, 2019, 08:41:08 pm »
How do I change my system-wide DNS to https://quad9.net. I've changed it in DHCP but where else do I change it?

TIA!

General Discussion / Error Message w DVD ISO on Rufus
« on: November 08, 2017, 04:39:38 pm »
I am getting an error message on Rufus when attempting to write the ISO. I did a checksum and its all good.  The error I get is:

Unsupported image

This image either a non-bootable or it sues a boot or compression method that is not supported by Rufus...

When I use the VGA image .img version and use Rufus to DD the file I don't have the error at all and it works.

Anyone else see this issue?

General Discussion / Re: Can't get Opnsense box not getting IP on LAN or WAN
« on: November 08, 2017, 04:05:55 pm »
Sorry this is my first experience with OPNsense so I made a mistake in previous attempts to configure it. The issues was that when configuring the interfaces I was putting using interface autoconfiguration and it wasn't working.

Is em0 supposed to be configured to be the LAN port? Because my hardware has it labeled WAN. So I manually configured the interfaces. Once I specified em0/em1 it all worked fine.  ;D

Is there a plan to add more post install configuration information to documentation?

Nice work on the project, love it so far!

General Discussion / Can't get Opnsense box not getting IP on LAN or WAN
« on: November 08, 2017, 01:37:06 pm »
I'm building OPNsense on a new Protectli FW6C system. It installs fine and I do the initial configuration while disconnected (as I am using my Internet connection). I've plugged a monitor into the HDMI port and used the text setup.

Odd thing is I can't seem to get connected to the Internet or get a LAN IP. I haved tried several times to reset it and made sure it has the proper LAN DHCP scope but I get not Internet IP and no LAN IP. I'm only get APIPA addresses locally. On the monitor of my OPNsense box I see:

em0 link state changed to UP when I plug it in and down when I unplug it but still I get no IP.

I've tried to reset to the defaults and do the setup twice and it doesn't work.

Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks so much!

Cool.

Yes, I figured it out but think others would benefit.  ;D

Documentation and Translation / Download Link doesn't specify signature

The download link https://opnsense.org/download/
shows a signature but doesn't state what hashing algorithm is used.

It would help if it is had those details.  ;)
