I have OPNsense behind a pf***** gateway and the gateway uses an APC UPS that NUT does not have a driver for, so I use the APUPSD plugin instead.

I had first tried to install NUT to OPNsense, but couldn't figure out how to get the net client option to function properly and I wasn't sure how good an idea it was to have NUT monitoring APCUPSD on the gateway device anyway, so I installed APCUPSD to OPNsense.

However, I cannot find where I am supposed to configure APCUPSD from in the command line.

Additionally, while tooling round in OPNsense command line, I noticed that even though I uninstalled NUT in GUI, I see in /etc/rc.conf.d/nut nut_enable="YES" and in /etc/rec.conf.d/nut_upsmon unt_upsmon_enable="YES". Does this mean that NUT was not completely uninstalled?

As a side note, my *nix experience dictates that anything I actually care about *must* run behind a UPS, and if it is running while I am not home, then it *must* be able to shut down in the event of a power outage.

Resolved. I was using the command incorrectly:
growisofs -Z /dev/dvdrw=OPNsense-18.1-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso

I have previously tested OPNsense using a DVD with 17.7 and everything loads up just fine.

I downloaded the image called OPNsense-18.1-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso.bz2, verified sha256 checksum, decompressed using Linus Mint right-click context menu option, burned it to a DVD using the following command:
growisofs -Z /dev/dvdrw OPNsense-18.1-OpenSSL-dvd-amd64.iso

The same computer that loads up the 17.7 DVD just fine reports the 18.1 DVD as not being a system disk.

What am I missing?

This is exactly what I came here to have answered.

My plan is now to migrate to OPNsense when pfSense obsoletes my hardware. This is about "sending them a message" so that, hopefully, others can see that when you plan obsolescence, users just migrate to some other project.

I have been using various projects since around the early 00s, and I have certain standards that, when met, I will buy swag, send donations, etc (I have a pfSense sticker on my enclosure), so I like to think I'm the kind of user projects prefer to retain.
