General Discussion / trying to make spare NICs (opt1 and op2) part of LAN
« on: September 12, 2018, 04:36:21 pm »
Hello,
I'm trying to make OPT1 and OPT2 part of the LAN so it acts like a simple switch for additional devices.
Is there a step by step guide that does this for Opnsense?
I followed this guide for pfsense but it didn't work.

https://mtu.net/~engstrom/configure-pfsense-bridge-over-multiple-nics-as-lan/

Any help would be awesome.  Thanks in advanced.

General Discussion / How to access hosts behind AT&T hotspot
« on: June 21, 2018, 03:20:07 pm »
Here is a request for the networking Gurus.
I have an Opnsense router whose connection to the internet is an unlimited AT&T hotspot. I would like to access some equipment (Nextcloud, cameras, etc.) behind the Opnsense, however; AT&T doesn’t give you a public IP unless you’re a business customer and pay $$$. Does anyone know of a way to be able to access a Nextcloud fileserver (or any host) that’s in this situation?
Perhaps some sort of “Jump Desktop” service?  Or a persistent reverse SSH tunnel…?  I’m just not sure.  Has anyone done this?
Thanks!!

17.1 Legacy Series / Re: USB to Ethernet interface removed on reboot
« on: August 23, 2017, 11:15:58 pm »
I'm running 17.7 and I'm getting the same problem.
I configure the interfaces, with the WAN being a USB modem, and when I reboot the configs are lost.  Perhaps the startup script is trying to autodetect and not getting it correct.  Is there a way to hard code the interface settings?
Or something...
HELP!
Thanks  :)

 :)
Thanks for such a quick response.  You were right.
Here is what fixed it:

https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=4319.msg16104#msg16104

1. Escape to loader prompt (3)
2. Type: set kern.vty="vt"
3. Type: boot

And then edit /boot/loader.conf to "set kern.vty="vt""

Thanks to Franco and Stormy as well!!!

General Discussion / upgrade from OPNsense 16.7.14_2-amd64 to 17.1 on root console option 12 hangs
« on: February 14, 2017, 08:57:44 pm »
Hello,
OPNsense 16.7.14_2-amd64 is running fine on my Protectli FW108120 Micro Firewall Appliance.
When I try and upgrade to 17.1 via console option 12 it hangs right after dimensions, stride, masks...
This also happens if I try to install fresh from USB image.
See attached screen shot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!   ;) :D ;D
Thanks
