15.7 Legacy Series / GUI clickable icon bug?
« on: August 15, 2015, 02:00:13 am »
I have the weird problem where the outcome of the action will differ depending where i click on the icons.
if i click on the drawing itself (pencil, cross, arrow) the desired action will be executed, but if i click on the icon square, not the black drawing, the action might differ slightly ie. edit will act as if i clicked "move selected rules before this rule" icon. no, i did not accidentally drag my mouse when clicking, which does just this.

This mostly happens in the Firewall section, but happens in other areas  as well.
Is this a known issue or did i just found a real bug? :)
Keep the good work going!

15.7 Legacy Series / Firewall undo button
« on: August 15, 2015, 01:03:49 am »
Is it a good idea to add a button to undo the removal/change of a firewall rule?
I'm testing adding changing removing rules and sometimes i remove the wrong rule because the browser hasn't updated yet or just bugs out for some reason... anyhow, the new button would remove some headache by adding a small rollback to the firewall. saving multiple points in time is overkill, but rollback over current changes should be nice to have.

General Discussion / The Use of RAM Disks
« on: August 07, 2015, 08:41:40 pm »
What is the best practice regarding the use of RAM disks?
I am using OPNsense on a APU1D4 with  4GB of DRAM and an 64GB mSATA drive, currently having RAM disk disabled.
I am planning to use about 40GB of my mSATA drive for caching Windows Updates and maybe some other stuff.
Now i know that an SSD or any other kind of chip-based storage has a lower R/W cycles than normal HDD's, but is there a big difference in wear and tear over CF-cards or SSD drives for these applications or is a RAM disk a good option over-all, including HDD's?

Many thanks in advance!

General Discussion / [SOLVED] OpenVPN can't ping LAN
« on: August 05, 2015, 01:00:30 pm »
I have a problem with my setup, where i can connect to my VPN and have a fully functioning internet connection trough it, BUT cannot ping anything other than my OPNsense box on my LAN...
i have setup my firewall so that it allows all traffic from and to all interfaces (LAN, DMZ, OPENVPN).
vpn didn't work at first, i had to provide an dns server even when i only access ip adresses directly, this is only tru for the opnsense box since i can't ping anything other than that on the lan network.
when i check my client's config, i see the remote network in the routing table.
is this some sort of rookie mistake where ik overlooked something simple? or is it more like a bug?
for now internet is working for me, but i would like to use it as a real vpn, not just as a secure tunnel to the internet :(
many thanks in advance!
