15.7 Legacy Series / [SOLVED] dhcpd fails to start after first reboot on fresh install.
« on: October 22, 2015, 01:06:22 pm »
dhcpd runs ok at install. Once rebooted, this happens. No changes made on a stock fresh install except IP configurations.

Here is the error:

/status_services.php: The command '/usr/local/sbin/dhcpd -user dhcpd -group dhcpd -chroot /var/dhcpd -cf /etc/dhcpd.conf -pf /var/run/dhcpd.pid em1' returned exit code '1', the output was 'Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Server 4.2.8 Copyright 2004-2015 Internet Systems Consortium. Please do not under any circumstances send requests for help directly to the authors of this software - please send them to the appropriate mailing list as described in the README file. exiting.'

opnsense: /status_services.php: The command '/bin/sh /tmp/dhcpd.sh' returned exit code '1', the output was 'chown: dhcpd: illegal group name' .

The group should exist right? No change was made to the custom image build for dhcpd.

Any ideas? Its NanoBSD image.

15.7 Legacy Series / [SOLVED] Global IP Fastforward
« on: October 18, 2015, 06:54:43 pm »
Hey mate "franco",

Why is net.inet.ip.fastforwarding disabled by default? Does has got something to do with the 64bit kernel driver offsets or downgrades the performance on amd64? Please clarify as per your tests mate.

Thanks.

Development and Code Review / [SOLVED] Critical Bug perhaps Franco?
« on: July 18, 2015, 08:04:07 pm »
Hey bud,

Try to replicate this.

1. Create a VLAN
2. Assign Interface
3. Select the newly created interface "use logical name instead of VLAN primary from dropdown"
4. Click Apply

*Boom* OS dies completely, wont' reboot, won't let you reset to factory defaults. I tested three times with new installation testing and all came out with the same result.

Development and Code Review / Custom Kernel Build
« on: July 09, 2015, 03:51:50 pm »
Hey France,

I want to build a custom kernel and have it loaded by default. I tinkered around with the source and build is done but it still says OPNSense as default kernel. How do i make it to "test-kernel" from the default F1 OPNSense which shows up without secondary selection? Seondly, i want to raise the selection time limit as i might be testing 3 or 4 kernel configurations .

Development and Code Review / Build Environment?

Hey Franco,

I am going to remove Suricata and Squid completely. Do you have static package build linkage or other dependencies in system variables?
