25.1, 25.4 Legacy Series / Reinstallation or fixable?
February 13, 2025, 08:24:15 PM
Hi guys,

I did something wrong. Took advise from the "internet" very late and the result was unfixable from my standpoint..

The last output from "root@opnsense:~ # opnsense-update -G" was:

Updating OPNsense repository catalogue...
pkg-static: Repository OPNsense has a wrong packagesite, need to re-create database
pkg-static: file:///var/cache/opnsense-update/.sets.pending/packages-/meta.txz: No such file or directory
repository OPNsense has no meta file, using default settings
pkg-static: file:///var/cache/opnsense-update/.sets.pending/packages-/packagesite.pkg: No such file or directory
pkg-static: file:///var/cache/opnsense-update/.sets.pending/packages-/packagesite.txz: No such file or directory
Unable to update repository OPNsense
Error updating repositories!

The last commands that were made were:

# opnsense-revert pkg
# opnsense-update -u

And now when the firewall starts im stuck with this error:

Please see attatched picture.

Im still able to reboot with a live environement using the import and get to the xml, but never had to do the process.. Is there something that can be done to get me out of this mess? I was running 24.7.12_4 prior to updating in shell..

Thank you,

Nick

Here is the install log:

Would this failing have anything to do with ZenArmor being not ready for the new version?

Hi,

Is there a way in the GUI of the FRR plugin or in cli to prevent OSPF from injecting a default route to a specific OSPF neighbor?

Thank you,

24.7, 24.10 Legacy Series / RADIUS WITH WINDOWS NPS
November 16, 2024, 03:06:25 AM
Hi,

I'm having an issue setting up RADIUS authentication using Windows Server NPS as the authentication server. I've followed all the relevant guides and documentation I could find on the topic, even those meant for pfSense. Despite that, something still seems to be wrong.

The networking side is working as expected—my firewall is communicating correctly with the server. When I use the tester, I get a response from the server that's somewhat positive. It contains gibberish but includes the correct Class tag reading "admin," which was created and assigned the gui\all page permissions. This was copied from the default "admins" group.

The reason I say it's only kind of working is that when I try logging in with the user, I get the error: "No page assigned to this user! Click here to log out." However, if I change the Class value in NPS to something other than "admin," the same issue occurs. It's as if the system isn't interpreting the Class value correctly.

Does anyone have ideas on what could help resolve this?

Thank you,

Nick

Hi everyone,

Just did a factory reset to try and resolve an OSPF issue I was having on my Firewall. Anyway, now i'm having an issue reinstallating my zenarmor plugin. It seems to be complaning abount it's database. I'm running 24.7.6. Hope it can be resolved without having to reinstall the entire os altogether. Iv'e attatched the install log of the installation we're somes errors can be found.

Thank you,

Hi,

Im tying to figure out, how to activate multi-instance support to OSPF in the FRR pluging. In the documentation of the FRR plugin, it states that I need to mess with the "deamon" file that should be in /etc/frr/daemon, but that directory dosent seams to exit. Maby im not looking at the right place. I was able to add the router ospf "1" to the ospfd.cong files inside of /usr/local/etc/frr, but this makes to GUI freak out by not displaying the changes. Does Opnsense support Multi-instance OSPF?

Thank you,

Hi every one!,

I upgraded to the latest version on Opnsense *23.1.7_1* and iv'e not been able to come back online since. My firewall is between my modem and a Cisco router. It was working fine on 23.1.6 in conjunction with Zenarmor. But now the pingeer  that tests the reachability of my « far gateway's » (10.10.0.0/24 | 10.10.10.0/24 | 10.10.20.0/24 | 192.168.1.0/24 VIA static routes that point to 192.168.12.0 /24 via 192.168.12.1 (Cisco WAN interface),  keeps bouncing around erratically from an online status to no ping at all but with the green online status. And they refuse to actualy reach the router like it was doing before. Has anybody experience this? I'm totaly in the dark here. Tried reinstalling from scrach but it does noting to help. It was all working fine with 21.1.6. In then mean time i reactivated my "Residential Gateway" and IP NAT OUSIDE on my Cisco router to bypass my Firewall temporarely... Im at a loss here.

Hoping for some Help :)

Thank you,

Nic
