General Discussion / [SOLVED] Virtual or Metal?
January 18, 2019, 10:23:32 AM
Hi everyone,

is there any downside on using OPNSense as a virtual machine instead of as a metal server?

Hi everyone,

I am having a problem here.

I have several interfaces (13). 2 of them are assigned to a physical interface each and the other 11 are VLANs on another physical interface acting as a trunk.

I need that the devices from Office(Direct physical interface) access devices from OldNetwork(vlan) and viceversa

In the pictures you can see the rules I defined

But I cant ping or access anything from one side to the other.

From the OPNSense server itself I can ping any device in any other network.

Am I missing something?

Do I have to set up gateways or routes?

General Discussion / [SOLVED] Can't create routes
January 16, 2019, 04:09:34 PM
Hi everyone.

When I go to System --> Routes --> Configuration

I see a blank route and if I try to add another route it just doesn't work.

Anyone having this problem?

Hi everyone.

When I configure an interface as static and I go to assign the IP address, in the mask do I have to set the mask bits for the whole network or only for that interface?

Example:

Let's say my network is 10.0.1.0 with netmask 255.255.248.0

When I assign the IP 10.0.1.10 to one of my firewall interfaces, in the mask bit do I set 32 or 21?

Hello everyone.

I have a question about how to configure the interfaces.

If I have 3 physical interfaces interfaces, is it a good idea to setup one for WAN, one for my Office LAN and one as a trunk containing all other VLANs?

It looks like this:
