Hardware and Performance / opnsense - Randomly unable to access router, cpu process high
« on: October 15, 2018, 05:08:14 pm »
Good afternoon!

Here's my issue;

I came in this morning to work, and was asked to add a new device to the dhcp MAC reservation list. However, between the main login screen and actually entering the information for the new device, I spent about 20 minutes. All menus and sub-menus take over 3-4 minutes to load.

-update, turns out opnsense had errors and the dhcp stopped working. This is the second time in less than a month. The CPU usage was at 100% but we have no idea which process was using up so much? We need to find a solution, we just can't afford to reboot the router every time.

Our setup:
We have a small desktop which has 3 NICs, 2 LANs and 1 WAN, 4 GB of RAM and an i5 2.6GHz Dual-core. We have one network set for the office and the other for guests and employees.

If you need more info please ask, and tanks in advance!

Cheers,

General Discussion / I'm using a workstation with 2 lan nic cards, can't access web gui.
« on: August 24, 2018, 01:48:22 pm »
Good morning.

Not sure if I posted in the right thread, but couldn't find this when searching.

I'll make this quick and simple.

I have a workstation with 3 nic cards, 2 LANS and 1 WAN. Using it as a DHCP server.
I was playing around with VLANS, and accidentally changed the the LANS settings with vlans. I am not sure now what the ip address of those two interfaces are, and so I can't reach the gui.
I am now getting APIPA on from both cards and am unable to access the gui to change my settings.
What can I do to access the opnsense router settings?

Cheers.

18.7 Legacy Series / Need help setting up vlans with OpnSense and Cisco Switch.
« on: August 22, 2018, 07:05:20 pm »
Hey all,

So here's what I'm trying to do.

I have a Cisco switch configured to have Vlans separating two networks.

Network 1 is for the office, servers, routers, and network 2 is for the guest Wifi running through an access point.
I have OpnSense installed on an old-ish workstation as a Router giving out ips through DHCP.

My question is this;

How do I go about creating 2 vlans on the Cisco switch and have the DHCP server proliferate it's addresses through both networks?
