21.1 Legacy Series / Two reboot commands needed to reboot opnsense (WebUI)
« on: March 31, 2021, 02:53:10 am »
Hi All,

I'm running into an odd issue where my install of opnsense will not reboot through the WebUI the first time. The dialog pops up that the reboot is happening, and the "shutdown chime" plays on the physical machine, but after a few seconds I get sent back to the dashboard. If I go to the reboot screen and select to reboot again, the system then properly reboots.

This also appears to affect reboots required/triggered by upgrades.

However, using "reboot" command via ssh shell session works fine.

I was trying to look through logs to see if I could determine what is going on but the system log doesn't really show anything at the time the issue occurs. The configd.log says "rebooting system" (or something to that effect), but that is it.

Any ideas on where else I can look to determine what might be holding things up?

18.7 Legacy Series / WAN DHCP6 - Odd Gateway Issue
« on: August 27, 2018, 02:42:55 am »
Hello,

I have some odd behavior on my opnsense instance when using DHCP6 on my WAN interface. On initial boot, the DHCP6 gateway reports being down. I am am able to resolve the issue by disabling the DHCP6 WAN gateway and then re-enable. However, now that I have been working with openvpn, it causes the same issue with the WAN DHCP6 interface. If I enable my openvpn client in opnsense, the DHCP6 gateway reports down again until I disable and then re-enable the DHCP6 gateway. This also causes a constant disconnect/reconnect loop on the openvpn client until I manually disable/re-enable the DHCP6 gateway.

Any ideas or any logs I can check to find more details?

18.7 Legacy Series / [SOLVED] DHCPv6 Static DNS Server - Some Clients Not Receiving Address
« on: August 12, 2018, 07:23:55 pm »
Hello All,

I'm trying to set a static DNS server when using DHCPv6. I am currently doing this with ipv4 DHCP and it is working great. If it matters, I am using DHCP-PD on the WAN interface and other interfaces are tracking that with a prefix ID set for each non-WAN interface. I also have RA setup in assisted mode (with "Use the DNS settings of the DHCPv6 server" selected).

I set the static DNS Server address in the DHCPv6 settings for my LAN interface. Different clients appear to be receiving different DNS servers for ipv6.

Windows client: Receiving LAN gateway address as ipv6 DNS server. (ipv4 static DNS server address is good)
Android Client: Receiving specified DNS server address as ipv6 DNS server. (ipv4 static DNS server address is good as well)
iOS Client: Receiving specified DNS server address AND LAN gateway address as ipv6 DNS servers. (ipv4 static DNS server address is good)

Any settings I should check? Ideally, I would like all DHCP clients to receive the DNS server addresses I set for both ipv4 and ipv6.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help diagnose the problem.

Thank you.
