Intrusion Detection and Prevention / IPS for Newbie

good morning everyone, I have a newbie question ... to protect a home network do I need to enable IPS on the LAN or WAN? should I set the wan address in the interfaces? Last thing, what are the standard rules to apply?
my hardware is an apu2c4. Many thanks to everyone for the advice!

Ciao a tutti, ho connessione fibra fastweb con fastgate (che uso solo come "modem") a cui ho collegato opnsense ed a valle tutta la rete home. Volevo sapere come configurare correttamente ipv6 mettendo wan in DHCP e distribuendo ipv6 tramite opnsense agli apparecchi sulla lan.

General Discussion / Advices to configure Unbound and Bind plugin for ad-block

I everybody,
I would like to configure my opnsense as internal dns server for home network.
I don't want to make mistakes, so may I ask how is the best way to configure Unbound and Bind to act (also) as an ad-block? I'm not sure how to route all traffic on lan to ask only opnsense for DNS...
Any advice is well accepted!

Volevo chiedere chi di voi utilizza questo fantastico firewall con connessione fastweb in fibra ed avere eventualmente suggerimenti di configurazioni particolari... (l'ho installato da poco senza fare troppe modifiche all'installazione base...).

17.7 Legacy Series / [SOLVED] OPNSense And Timemachine Backups

I everybody,
made a new OPNSense installation on an apu2c4 board. No VLANS, DHCP on Lan No Rules. Just a fresh install from scratch.
The problem is that my mac, could not find on network TimeCapsule. I can see the capsule on dhcp leases but backups can not start with the warning "no timecapsule found on network". With the sophos xg 17 that i have tried before everityng went fine (but I prefer opnsense!)

17.7 Legacy Series / certificate for Firefox Certificate Internal

I everybody, I'm new user installed Opnsense at home on a apu 2c4d board. Everything works fine (simple installation now, just DHCP and some rules). I would like to create a certificate for the management webpage reached on internal LAN. Every time I try to login firefox says me that it can't validate the certificate, neither I can import it. Any step by step guide to trust my internal browser(s)? Thank you so much!
