High availability / Re: CARP with Dialup interfaces: how to use "Disconnect dialup interfaces"?
« on: December 02, 2022, 11:20:28 pm »
Wondering the same. I got it running with pfSense in HA where the PPPoE was linked to the CARP IP. However, in opnSense, I can't link the PPPoE to the CARP IP as it does not exist after creation.

So do you mind to share your setup in which, although flapping, it seems to work with opnSense?

High availability / Re: Can't ping HA interface IP

Can the firewalls ping each other or only master to slave but not vica versa? Make sure the synchronize interface is the pfsync interface and that the Master firewall has the ip address of the Backup firewall configured in the pfsync Synchronize Peer IP and vica versa.

For synchronization, only configure XMLRPC Sync on the Master, use the pfsync address of the Backup firewall as Synchronize Config to IP and the admin credentials of the Backup firewall (or dedicated user account for synchronization).

High availability / PPPoE on a CARP IF
« on: November 14, 2022, 12:35:09 pm »
I have been using Google for 2 days now but so far I couldn't find much related to Opnsense, PPPoE and CARP so I hope one of you could help me.

I'm running 2 Opnsense instances with HA configured. HA is working fine. So I created CARP addresses for both WAN and LAN interfaces. Now I'm trying to get PPPoE (ISP requirement) to run over the CARP address used for WAN as mentioned in this pfSense article (https://forum.netgate.com/topic/135904/configure-an-pppoe-on-an-carp-if?lang=en-US)

Now what I can't find in Opnsense is a way to link my new PPPoE connection to the CARP IP as mentioned at step 4.

So I installed 2 pfSense instances and followed exactly the same method and the CARP IP shows up under "Link Interface". Is this option not available in Opnsense? Should I link my PPPoE differently to make HA with PPPoE possible?
