Hardware and Performance / Re: Thanks for adding your hardware to the database

I played around with command line and GUI....
Result: Three entries in the data base!
I didn't find a possibility to delete my duplicates...
I'll send you a PM with my three ID and ask you to delete two of them...

This is not necessary. The system will delete all unneeded duplicates automatically. It's OK to have hundreds of probes of the same computer in the database (different states of the same computer, attached new devices, different configurations or operating systems, etc. - all of this will have the same HWid).

Great tool. Only thing is it reports Qotom's  as an Intel Q3XXG4-P, probably due the System Info in the BIOS manufacturer being 'To be filled by O.E.M'. Non the less nice! As a side it's actually a Q355G4 - Is it possible to upload the data after I edit the Base Board info in */root/HW_PROBE/LATEST/hw.info/logs/dmidecode to show the correct Mfr and product ID?

This will work. But you'll need to do this each time because the database data is updated by latest probe data.

Hardware and Performance / First OPNsense usage statistical report has been committed
« on: February 04, 2021, 08:57:32 am »
The report is available in this GitHub repository. It’s based on anonymous hardware probes submitted by OPNsense users with the help of a new os-hw-probe plugin (Menu->System->Firmware->Plugins) introduced in recent OPNsense 20.7.8 and OPNsense 21.1 releases.

Please do not hesitate to add your hardware info to the database to improve the next month’s report and identify important usage trends by the end of the year.

Thanks to all!

People use Atom a lot to run OPNsense (and other BSDs too): https://bsd-hardware.info/?view=search&name=Atom&typeid=cpu

Hardware and Performance / Thanks for adding your hardware to the database
« on: January 27, 2021, 09:00:11 am »
Currently, about two hundred computers have been added to the hardware database since OPNsense 20.7.8 release: https://bsd-hardware.info/?d=OPNsense

Please do not hesitate to add your computer too with the help of a new os-hw-probe plugin under Menu->System->Firmware->Plugins.

The larger the database, the easier it will be to find compatible hardware for OPNsense.

Thanks!

uh oh... any chance to get serials masked   (this is in dmidecode)?

Base Board Information
   Manufacturer: LENOVO
   Product Name: 314D
   Version: SDK0J40697 WIN 3305215053216
   Serial Number: --

asset tags are also showing up... /sad faces

Do not worry. These are just hashes of your real values.

The problem is that they should not be visible as well, but in your particular case this is not true. All other probes from other users have been decorated properly.

Fixed.

No driver in the base system yet (at least in FreeBSD 12.1). See discussion on the FreeBSD forum about this device.

This is the BSD review of Cubi 3 Silent S: https://bsd-hardware.info/?probe=1cffc69c5d

You can see that all network and storage devices are supported by FreeBSD. Bluetooth device is not, but this should not be a problem for a router.
