General Discussion / Dyndns scripting
« on: December 01, 2020, 08:44:58 pm »
Hello!, is there a way to enable a dyndns configuration/instance on a secondary node only when the master is unreachable? .

I have two nodes connected to the internet with a VRRP based IP internally for the LAN gateway, but need to change the public DNS entry so the incomming VPN connections using the FQDN can be re-established.

I see the same issue. The second node down and the node that is alive doesn't take over

In the leases view I see:

My State = recover

CARP status is Master, VIP's mask matches base subnet.
VIP setup: (vhid 1 , freq. 1 / 0)

Any hints?

General Discussion / L2 failover on WAN?
« on: March 29, 2019, 04:00:32 am »
Hello!,

I've setup CARP in the past with 3 static public IPs without problem. In this case, I need two firewall in HA but using a single DHCP assigned IP on the WAN side.

Would it be possible to have something similar to the floating IP but for L2?, something like defining a MAC address and having it move to the active node?. On the ISP side I have a HFC CM, with DHCP por public IP assigment and migrating to 3 static public IPs is not possible in this case.

Hardware and Performance / HP Thinclient t5745
« on: October 24, 2018, 06:22:40 pm »
Hi!,

I'm trying to run 18.7 from a pendrive on a HP Thinclient t5745 booting from a pendrive (OPNsense-18.7-OpenSSL-nano-i386.img). First boot is flawless, I get to configure everything and after the first reboot I have two issues:

1- Super slow boot (\ - | - / - \  sequence slowly moving)
2- After several minutes, I just receive a "can't load kernel" message.

Any idea where to start?

17.7 Legacy Series / DHCP server: multiple MAC address for same IP reservation
« on: January 17, 2018, 03:29:11 pm »
Hi!, I'm currently moving from my OpenWRT AP as a gateway to a OPNSense VM on esxi. In the OpenWRT DHCP server I had the option to define two MAC addresses for the same IP, that idea is to get the same IP on a laptop, whether you connect using wifi or cable.

Is it possible to do that with OPNsense?
