Thanks, I assumed that was the case but was hoping there was a way to do both at once.

17.7 Legacy Series / Traffic shaper rule orders
January 10, 2018, 08:16:59 AM
Hi,

I'm still fairly new to opnsense and have query about the traffic shaper. When traffic flows through the system and matches a rule does it end at that rule or also continue on until it has been compared to all the rules?
E.g. if I follow the example config but want to have the system allow 1 Mbit per user but no more than 40 Mbit for the whole system is it important which order they go in / will it match the 40 Mbit rule if that is first and ignore the 1 Mbit / IP rule?

Thanks in advance

I'm interested in being able to do this as well, I haven't had a chance to do much testing but my understanding of how the traffic shaping works in the back ground I am not sure it is possible as it is looking at the traffic type / IP addressing rather than the auth source.
If there is someone out there that has tried something similar suggestions would be appreciated even if it is just a confirmation of if it is possible or not.

For anyone else that encounters this issue a reinstall fixed the problem, not sure why it didn't work on the first fresh install though.

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I've just done a fresh install of Opnsense to replace a PFsense install that is acting up however I can't get the captive portal to do, well anything. When I go to Captive portal -> administration click the + sign to create a new zone and hit save changes it gives no error but also does not create the zone.
I have tried looking Via the CLI and about the closest I can fine is that the /etc/rc.conf.d/captiveportal file has captiveportal_enable="NO" and manually changing that to YES makes no change plus a reboot resets it to NO.
This is a fresh install updated to the latest version installed within ESXi:
OPNsense 17.1.8-amd64
FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-p10
OpenSSL 1.0.2l 25 May 2017

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I'm out of ideas as to what is preventing the zone creation.

Regards
Simon
