It was in AP mode, it was due to my fire wall settings, I didn't know extra LAN ports do not get applied with the default pass through settings and was blocking access to all devices connected through it. Now I have wireless access.

Happily I have Opnsense now as my main router that has a 10GB connection through a SFP port to my PC then my spare onboard Intel NIC is being used as a LAN connection to my ASUS AX88U which is meshed with 4 routers and a few other switches and routers in different areas. Will probably do some more LAN ports down the road on the actual Opnsense router vs through all the different ASUS routers but as of now I at least have a really solid network that has been working for the past day really fast.

Now I'm just fighting to get a SFP+ module that's ethernet 10GB to work so I can take advantage of my 2GB network and they don't have a SFP out just a 1GB or 10GB output from their network box. (Yes I know 2.5 would be enough but a 10GB module isn't much more and I want to be ready for future upgrades to my fiber lines as they have up to 10GB support for business lines.)

I got help over on Reddit and this is solved, this was due to me not setting my Firewall up to allow the extra LAN interface to pass through my WAN port. Once I enabled the default settings for passing through the firewall on that port, everything works.

Hi all!

I finally made the jump and just built my own router with opnsense. I am in some need of help with setting up a second router. Here is what I have set and I am at a loss.

I have my computer plugged into my Connect3 port with a SFP plug and the WAN is being used as the second port on it. Not issues, got internet working there.

Now I have set up the 3rd port on my motherboard a Intel NIC and I want to use that as a way to connect my old ASUS AX88U and use that as a wireless network to connect my wireless devices onto my network.

• I have gone in and set up the Intel port as a Static IP with the IP 192.168.2.1 and enabled.
• I have set up the DHCP settings range for the device to be from 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.254
• I can see all the devices under the leases that are connected to the ASUS router
• I then set the router to be 192.168.2.2 for a static IP
• I can connect to the router through the set IP

Now the issue is from here, any device that I have connecting to this ASUS Router isn't getting internet at all, am I missing a step or have I set something up wrong?
