24.1 Production Series / Very slow upload on J1900 miniPC with 4x i211

I've just picked up a second hand mini PC with a J1900 CPU and 4x i211 NICs using the igb driver (motherboard name in BIOS is EC3-BT19D4L) - I thought I was avoiding NICs known to be problematic but it looks like these might be? Or at least in the current version of FreeBSD that OPNsense is based on?
I installed and updated a fresh install and set up Unbound. Everything seems to be working fine but speedtests will drop off quickly shortly after booting (after initially being fine). I'm on a WISP with a 50Mbps download and 6Mbps upload. There is no difference to the direct speed on download tests but the upload goes down to about 200Kbps or will time out. Booting a live Windows or Linux CD on the same hardware results in a full speed connection.
I've been trying to find a resolution but seem to be finding a lot of people hitting brick walls. Is this hardware just unlikely to work out under OPNsense?
