Title: Captive Portal - Social Login
Post by: Wyrm on August 10, 2018, 09:13:12 am
Hi,
has anyone experience with some form of request for social login to captive portal?
Mainly to have option to log by account from Facebook or Google or twitter and so on...
Not two-factor, but just to use these social logins to access captive portal guest network and also the other effect is in likes and social data to web page which is usually interconnected with this solution...

Thanks for reply

Did not think this is what users want to. You have to use OpenID or OAuth2 for that. In example you have Google, you have to allow the Captive Portal App to Access some Userinformation and the Google Account of the users will save this permission of the Captive Portal App to the Userprofile.

Saves time for the Voucher creation, but do People really asked for it? The Portal is in the Core, not a plugin, so maybe a Feature Request would be the best place for it. But it has to be worth it.

I have a lot of restaurant and café customers that they want their users to able to access the Internet while they are at their café over captive portal. I use untangle but this FW is expensive. if OpnSense has it then it will be helpful for us who have small IT companies. No need to extra permission just a token control is enough.

From a development perspective it's perfectly possible to offer social login capabilities as a seamless plugin. My guess is the work is the only thing that is missing to be done by someone.

Cheers,

This would be highly useful IMO.

I would like to offer a heavily shaped/limited open access service that is free to everyone, but requires a social login (for traceability on network abuse). Having a user log in via social profile would be extremely useful to me because it promotes responsible use of the network and provides accountability. Sure, someone can make a fake social account, but most people are too lazy.

@Franco, is it in the roadmap?
Should we set up collaborative funding to develop this feature?
if so, how much should be collected?
