Title: [solved] revert patch
Post by: qinohe on May 31, 2018, 05:04:18 pm
Hi all,

I patched QR code by hand :opnsense-patch 2f247f2
see https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=6885.msg39230#msg39230 (https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=6885.msg39230#msg39230)

Now I tried to update to 18.1.9 but the patch is in the way  ;)

I tried: opnsense-patch -R 2f247f2, but revese is not compiled with opnsense-patch, I see it is in patch, but, can I use that too?
Or is there another way to proceed?

Thanks mark

edit:sorry if it's the wrong subforum, thought of this 2 late

edit2: NVM excuting the same patch reverts it, it's updating now thanks  8)

Hi Mark,

Most opnsense-* tools have a manual page:

    # man opnsense-patch

With patches, you should not see problems on updates. Patches will be overwritten by the update to return to a "known good state". So after upgrade the only thing you need to see is if the bug was fixed or if you need to reapply the patch in order to use it again.

So the question is: what error did you see?

Cheers,
Franco

Hi franco,

The only one to blame is me, after I did the patch the update was available and I touched 'check for updates'  and forgot to actually do that.
So I thought, the patch is the trouble hehe and need to revert it. After that everething went okay, but that was just because I forgot to 'update now', ggg...
At least I have learned something: to patch and revert patch Opnsense  ;D

Sorry for the noise,
Greetings mark

edit: yes I did find that man page, didn't think of it at first as they are not present by default in Pfsense

Hello again,

I decided to raise this thread again because there is an upgrade. I'm unable to update through the webpage, the update becomes visable on the firmware page, but no button to perform the action, or I must be missing something very obvious  ::)
I have checked the console over SSH too, it seems I can update here, though, I haven't done it yet as I would like to get some output from you guys.
The previous upgrade to 18.1.9 was done through console over SSH btw.

Thanks mark

Well maybe the update was not in place when I tried first time and only got the message, but I guess you guys first upload the files and than make them available. ;)
Now, a few hours later I decided to change the mirror from Leaseweb(NL) to Opnsense Amsterdam.
After I did that and did the "check for updates" the "update now" button became visible and I could sucsesfully update.
If this happens again with this mirror on the next update I'll report back here.

Thanks mark.

Hi mark,

Yes, the update is armed by the main server, the other mirrors will follow on their next rsync round which is 1-6 hours for them normally.

The QR code patch was included in 18.1.10 so no need to patch anymore. :)

Cheers,
Franco
