Title: [SOLVED] RFC 4638 PPPoE support
Post by: nietzowietzo on July 05, 2015, 05:07:57 pm
Would be great if their was support for this from OPNSense http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.os.openbsd.tech/27554

The big Fiber optic providers in The Netherlands like KPN/XS4all and Telfort are all using PPPoE. pfSense still has not implemented this feature. For me it would be a reason to using OPSense when my Fiber optic connection arrives next month.

This already works: http://blog.firewallonline.nl/how-to-en-tutorials/xs4all-glasvezel-internet-iptv-op-pfsense-opnsense/

I used this guide to get my own XS4ALL fiber optic connection to work.

I am not talking about PPPoE support or using this with XS4ALL. It kinda logical this would work fine..
I am talking about RFC 4638 baby jumbo frames support, please look at this.
PfSense does not support it: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=93902.0

If OPNSense will support this. I am sure a lot of people will be willing to switch.

I did contact the person that helps pfSense to implement this in a future release, but I got no response as of yet.

We're more than willing to roll this out in a release as it provides an improvement over the current situation. If anybody wants to help, one could start by letting David (David_W forum handle) know this...
