Title: [SOLVED] New install, no DHCP server in GUI under Services?
Post by: douglasg14b on April 25, 2018, 02:52:58 am
I'm trying to switch over from pfsense and configure the DHCP server on opnsense.

However, under Services -> DHCPv4 there are only three options (Relay, Leases, Log File) and no "Server" option.

If I try and go to /services_dhcp.php I'm redirected to the dashboard.

How can I configure the DHCP server?

I ran into something similar, because my interface configuration is highly customized, namely I have a zoo of VLANs where the DHCP servers live.

You have to go into the interface assignment bit and get some interfaces assigned (use the + sign), and I think additionally they probably have to have IP addresses on them after you get them created.

That at least was the problem I was having when there were no interfaces listed in the DHCP part.

You can configure a DHCPv4 server on any interface when it has a static IPv4. Same goes for v6 variants. This never changed, but now the menu doesn't show these as options as opposed to showing the option but telling you this on the configuration page. :)

Franco,

That was it, I needed a static IP on the interface.
