Title: Java download application timeout
Post by: jpcei on April 10, 2018, 12:41:07 pm
When accessiing to a government site, it's asked to download a Java application, which never gets to be downloades due to timeout exception.

in the details description of "Unable to launch application" in Java, i get this error:
com.sun.deploy.net.faileddownloadexception: unabel to load ressource http://download.gep.mtss.gov.pt/sguri/apps/lib/avalon-framework-4.2.0.jar

i tested this java application outside the OPNSense firewall and it works well.

Any ideas of what can be stucking this ?

Can you check if the same happens when you use a browser?

So the reason can be the Proxy in case ICAP is used and streaming is enabled (an AV marks it as malware), or an IPS rule.

sorry for the delay...

I can't get which rule is making this kind of struggeling

i already stopped suricata service, which i suppose in that way should not apply any rule, but same result... it hangs in download.

Today i tested again, the same way, this Java application, and it works correctly... no changes have been made in OPNSense, so i must suppose, something has change from the server side in mtss.gov.pt, somekind of correction in the java applet, or a new certificate applied.

By now is solved for me, but for those who reads this post, and are having same kind of problem, i canĀ“t point the solution from OPNSense side.
