Post by: neggard on June 14, 2015, 07:33:16 pm
Hello.

I am new to this forum and this OPNsense.
Before I have running lots of firewallsdistro like m0n0wall, pfsense and untangle.

Now I want to try this distro.

For the first time I shlould by new hardware for my firewall and have looked at this motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4918#ov

Is this a good motherboard and will it handle all services with about 10-20 users?
Are all the components working with OPNsense?

Or is there another hardware that is batter and cost about the same ammount?

I use successfully http://www.pcengines.ch/apu.htm
Discounting  the very low power consumption Cost into the purchase price you will get a excellent cost of ownership.

One crucial device when building firewall is NIC
(since processing power currently is no longer a big constraint).

If you can afford it, get Intel, otherwise Broadcom,
only then Realtek, respectively in order.
