Title: 'www' will bypass Conent Filter
Post by: dataweasel on December 09, 2017, 08:00:59 pm
I just loaded OPNsense to review for replacing my pfSense firewall.  So far I like it.  However, I've noted one issue I can't seem to get around so far...

I have configured the Web Proxy, set for Transparent (HTTP only right now), and configured a blacklist (using Shalla List).  If I type "http://playboy.com" into FireFox or MS Edge the default block page is displayed.  If I just type "playboy.com" (FireFox and Edge will prepend 'www' automagically) or if I manually type 'www.playboy.com' the content filter will allow the site.  I would think/hope that the content filter is looking at the base domain name for filtering.

Am I missing something here?  I've been searching the forums and Internet for any insights on this and haven't found anything yet.

Thanks.

It's working as expected now.
