Title: IDS/IPS Crash
Post by: Stefan on December 06, 2017, 03:08:34 am
Standard distribution of the ET and Snort VRT suricata rules is set up to support Windows based systems. While trying to deselect the Windows rules the following a fatal error abruptly occurred. See attached GUI Screen Print for details.

I am currently reinstalling and upgrading. The system fatal was unrecoverable.

Hi Stefan,

Is that the same system that is misbehaving due to filterdns crashing? I don't know, but maybe it's the hardware misbehaving... Config.xml corruptions are very unlikely these days unless the file system gets banged by hard reboots. Your hardware could be dying.

Cheers,
Franco

Hardware seems okay, though the drive could be a concern/

Played around with the config for a while. It's pretty solid now. So I'll just wait for 18.1 and see how things look without filterdns. That issue is not gone, but not happening often any longer. Thanks!
