Title: [SOLVED] Dell Poweredge R220 installation question
Post by: Brett on November 29, 2017, 08:25:02 pm
I looked for specific posts that discussed the issue I'm having but didn't find anything.
I have tried various software firewalls and have been relatively happy with a UTM but wanted to try out OPNsense.  I purchased a Dell Poweredge R220, (Xeon 1231 v3, 8 gigs RAM, 500Gig SSD), so I can try various software based firewalls.  The main issue I'm having at this point is regardless if I try the installation from the DVD or USB methods it appears that the installation doesn't find or even warn of installing on the SSD.  I have installed Untangle without issue and is running fine.  The Dell BIOS show the SSD installed.  I wanted to update the BIOS and see if that helped the installation "find" the SSD.  Any ideas would be very helpful.  The end goal is to have another firewall solution for my end customers and I think OPNsense would be a great fit.  Thank you.

That would be because you're running in 'live dvd' mode and you need to select the installer mode at boot time, see the documentation here: https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/install.html
