Title: No installation possible - "Waiting for backend"
Post by: ruebenmaster on November 15, 2017, 02:51:09 pm
Hello people,
i'm new with administration OPNsense. I want to install it. After the DVD is booting system, i log in with installer. After that, there is a blue screen with the note: "Waiting for backend". You have only the chance to STRG+C or waiting till life is ending... :o))

Has anybody an idea, what to do to install OPNsense.

It is a hardware server with intel i3 processor, 4 Gb RAM and 500GB SATA HDD. The booting CDROM is extwernal with USB connected. There are 4 intel NICs onBoard. The connection via ssh or https is ok.

OPNsense 17.7.5-amd64
FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-p12
OpenSSL 1.0.2l 25 May 2017

Hi there,

Waiting for backend means that loopback configuration failed. Does this always happen? Does your dvd live system work fine?

You could also try to run the installer from the root shell option 8:

# opnsense-installer

Cheers,
Franco

Hallo franco,
ok, i try it, without succsess. The same blue screen. F10 seems doesn't work and "Waiting for backend..." is the only message on bottom.

is there a logfile i'm able to find the failure? I'm searching in /var/log (all files) but can't find anything about installation OPNsense on HDD.

The process is running....

root@kleinstein:/var/log # ps
