Title: APU2C4 filtering performance + 1Gbps filtering
Post by: sachaz on September 04, 2017, 05:13:08 pm
Hi gents,

just for your information I tested with iperf the APU2C4 filtering performances:
test is simple: PC1---(lan)---APU---(wan)---PC2
PC2 with "iperf -s" & PC1 with "iperf -c IP(PC2) -i 1 -t 20"
I obtain a downstream of 427Mbps

I'm still looking for a fanless small device which can filter 1Gbps, any idea ?

Regards,
Sacha.

hi,
talked to Sacha on IRC and we both ordered a QOTOM-Q355G4 (2017 Edition). Its fanless and has a 5250u CPU (2 cores, 4 threads), 4x intel NIC. Will report back here with results but should expect gigabit throughput.

Hi,

I got a Q355G4 8G RAM / 128G SSD with WiFi. OPNSense 17.7 installed successfully (booted a VGA image from USB) - had to login as root, enter the shell and run opnsense-installer manually to transfer it to the SSD as I wasn't able to login as installer.

Unfortunately, I can't see the WiFi of my box in OPNSense. Did you order the boxes with WiFi? Have you been able to enable it in OPNSense?

Have fun,

Remi.

Hi again,

Just to mention: I have only now found that the WiFi module supplied with the Q355G4 does not support pfSense (I only had to scroll down the product description some more...) which obviously also applies to OPNSense. As the price difference is very moderate, I am very happy anyway.

Cheers, Remi.

Hi,

let's follow this topic on "Qotom i5-5250U New".
I've just received it and it's the best fanless hardware for OPNSense I ever had.
