Title: LAN & WiFi with shared IP pool.
Post by: MyrddinE on August 25, 2017, 03:04:37 am
I can't figure out how to have my LAN and WiFi interfaces share the same DHCP pool. In fact, in the general case I don't understand how to have a LAN and OPTx interface (or multiple OPTx interfaces) be on the same subnet with the same DHCP pool. I want my connection method to be transparent.

If I just missed some documentation, feel free to point it out to me. I'd be happy to read where it was already explained.

Hi,

Multiple subnets are not intransparent. There are few drawbacks from using routing instead of bridging in your use case.

But anyway, what you want is bridge the WiFi to the LAN, it's a setup I wouldn't suggest from OPNsense itself. It can be done, but the setup effort can be an unthankful experience.

If you have an external AP that is easier and more reliable to bridge to your existing LAN.The other upside is that you only have to manage the LAN on OPNsense.

Cheers,
Franco
