Title: What is the best way to inspect CARP status?
Post by: whitwye on August 17, 2017, 07:23:24 pm
In trying to work out how to best set up CARP to handle multiple IPs per interface, I'm looking for how to check the current status of CARP. By way of contrast and example, in pfSense there's a screen for that at Status > Carp (Failover). The equivalent of the Status menu is Services in OPNsense, but there's nothing for CARP there. I'm not saying pfSense is doing CARP right (in my brief experience it has deep problems in the implementation), just that that screen is useful (for example, in helping see the deep problems in its CARP implementation).

Is there any representation of the CARP status in OPNsense, short of using ifconfig in a shell?

Note the OPNsense manual seems to refer to pfSense here:

Quote
First go to Status -> Carp in the OPNsense webinterface and check if both machines are properly initialized.

I'm not seeing a Status menu or option anywhere in OPNsense. Apologies if I'm not looking in the right place.

Add the widget to your dashboard. Top right.

Thanks Bart!

Found that finally while you were posting now. Hopefully the manual will be updated.
