FreeBSD 11 does not support Hyper-V Gen2 VM's.
FreeBSD 11.1 will (just announced yesterday). A test build/kernel for FreeBSD 11.1 will come in August.

Like mimugmail mentions, it was talked about in IRC. By me and Fitch, to be precise.
I run a Hyper-V Free 2016 at home, and would love to run OPNsense in Gen2 as well.

The release of 17.7 and 11.1 line up perfectly, which made it impossible to test the release at all. Some other users noted that we shouldn't update FreeBSD so often, so if all goes well we see 11.1 in 18.1. If not, we will stay on 11.0.

That's a definitely maybe on Hyper-V Gen 2 in 18.1. ;)

Cheers,
Franco

Aww? :-(

Can understand. If FreeBSD 11.1 doesn't bring things that are either needed or really benefit OPNsense, it might be better to wait.
