Title: NetFlow cannot be enabled
Post by: moph on July 24, 2017, 06:51:43 pm
Hi there,

i'm pretty new to OPNsense but wanted to try it and play around for eventual production use. Everything seems fine and is working in the lab until now. NetFlow otherwise is giving me a hard time. Whilst it worked in my first VM i set up it wont even let me apply the settings on my dedicated deployment. I use a Supermicro A1SRI-2358F Board with an Intel Atom C2358 SoC.

This is what the system log tells me. Are there any known hardware issues? When I start the services flowd and flowd_aggregator via ssh they stop as soon as i apply the settings in the webgui. Any ideas what i could do to enable netflow and insight?

Hi Moph,

From the docs: https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/netflow_exporter.html

Which part is giving you trouble? Are you maybe having a hard time selecting the interfaces and saving them? (Hit refresh to see if they got applied.)

Cheers,
Franco

Hi Franco,

thx for your reply. My settings look exactly like those in the documentation. Then i hit apply and after i refresh the settings are gone. No matter what interfaces i select.

Edit:

Short update on this strange situation. I continued to configure opnsense and i encountered the same problem with traffic shaping. When i try to create a pipe for example i hit save and no pipe apears.

Edit#2: I did a complete reinstall and now everything seems to be working fine. Still dont know what caused the issue.

Hi Moph,

Strange, but happy that it is now solved. :)
