Title: Network Monitoring tools
Post by: webxl on June 15, 2017, 11:23:47 pm
I'm curious what everyone is using for network monitoring. I see a bunch of stuff for monit, but that seems more geared for a single host.

I want to know when LAN clients connect and disconnect. I set up a trial of Domotz Pro (https://www.domotz.com/) running on a synology NAS on one of my LANs which works fairly well, but ideally it would run on OPNsense so it could monitor all network behind it. They only support popular NAS OSs and Raspberry Pi. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems like this should be something OPNsense should support out of the box. At least alerting when new DHCP clients were detected.

Icinga2 is amazing for all monitoring and alerting.

Graylog is amazing for centralized logging and alerting.

They are even better together. Toss in graphite and grafana for beautiful graphing.
