Title: [solved] VMWARE installation using CDROM iso?
Post by: slicster on May 10, 2017, 08:38:05 pm
Hi Guys,
I'm familiar with pfSense but new to OPNSense and I'm trying to install it to my VMWARE lab.  The CDROM ISO I downloaded works fine but it seems to be a LIVE CD only in that I never get a "(I)nstaller" option on bootup.  Does anyone know how to get around this?

Thanks.

Nevermind.  I kept reading through the documentation and it turns out that logging in with the "installer" account once the livecd is booted allows you to run the installation.  All good here.

Thanks anyway and hopefully this helps someone else.

Hi there,

Yes, the installer is a user now and the system always boots up so you can use a SSH to install remotely. :)

It's a bit unconventional, but on the other hand makes the install images more flexible and useful as recovery and diagnostics tools.

Cheers,
